Renewable Energy Introduction

Renewable energy is energy which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat. This energy is renewable, meaning it never runs out. It is a natural energy that has an unlimited supply.

Non-renewable sources include;
  • oil and petroleum products
  • Natural gas
  • Coal
  • Uranium
This graph represents renewable energy compared to non-renewable energy.

As we can see, a small fraction is renewable. Why?
Oil companies make millions so why should they stop?

Well...because of:
Pollution
Expensive
Non-renewable
Influence foreign policy
Causes conflict

Renewable Energy such as:
Wind turbines
Solar panels
Biomass
are only used 8% in 2009 according to that graph.

This IS an issue.
